We'd love to hear about your project and help get you started.
Charles Russell Speechlys has always seen its Guildford office as an extension of its London headquarters, both in terms of the visitor experience and the working environment.
Having moved to a newly refurbished building in the centre of the town, the new offices needed to provide an excellent visitor experience and a high quality working environment to help attract high calibre new recruits.
|Size:||22,000 sq ft|
|Capabilities:||Consultancy, Design, Manage, Furniture|
|Outcomes:||Exemplar visitor experience and high quality work environment that encourages informal communication and ad hoc interaction|
Our team worked closely with the partners in charge to ensure that the firm’s unique culture and identity is reflected in a design that is original, yet in keeping with the design and brand messages in its London offices. Extensive consultation with the partners and strong communications with staff ensured that the design direction for the project was both relevant and clearly understood.
Taking the classic law firm style as our inspiration, we devised a palette of materials and finishes that combines solidity and gravitas with a contemporary but hospitable feel. Dark wood finishes feature throughout, teamed with leather, bronze and polished plaster. A modern twist is provided through features such as the angular form of the reception desk and dramatic ‘lightbox’ style fittings to the meeting rooms. Leather-bound law volumes in large timber bookcases punctuate the space and have been incorporated as a texture and colour within the palette. A café ‘hub’ is located adjacent to the atrium, visible to all in the firm, encouraging informal communication and ad hoc interaction.
Space on the work floors is largely cellular. Glazed partition fins create a sense of width in the corridors, while lighter finishes have been introduced to create a fresher look and feel.
What really impressed us about Harmsen Tilney Shane was the team’s commitment to understanding us, our culture and objectives then translating that into a design that directly addresses these. We have a fantastic new working environment for our staff and one which provides us with modern facilities that still reflect our history and heritage.
